Auricoste Watches: True Military Grade Timepieces

Many watches today boast about being made to military specifications in order to show that they are functional and durable. For men who are looking for watches that are truly battle ready, it can be difficult to know which ones really live up to their claims. Auricoste watches are the rare exception, as they are a line of timepieces of fine enough standards to be worn for military expeditions for more than 150 years.

Auricoste was founded in 1854 by Emile Thomas, a clockmaker who had the important job of producing marine chronometers for the French Navy. Thomas established the brand in order to begin making wristwatches for the French fighting forces. By the 1950s, the watchmakers at Auricoste were collaborating with the French military to make timepieces to order that would fully meet the needs of soldiers in battle. Today, the company continues to produce instruments and watches as the official brand of the French Navy.

For civilians, Auricoste offers three watches, all of which have the same features as the military spec watches the company makes. They include the Type 20 Flyback, the Type 52 Flyback and the Spiro Technique. Each watch is available in an array of styles, all of which are stylish enough for everyday wear but durable enough for outdoor adventuring.

Auricoste watches are available for purchase only from select retailers located throughout Europe and the rest of the world. Prices vary, but most of the brand’s watches sell for between $2,000 and $5,000.
