Zelos Expands the Hammerhead Collection with Three Bold New Field Models

The legendary Zelos Hammerhead collection is back, but this time with a rugged field-watch twist. Known for pushing boundaries with exotic dial materials, overbuilt specifications, and enthusiast-driven designs, Zelos has introduced three striking new Hammerhead 43 Field models that continue the brand’s tradition of combining tool-watch capability with artistic creativity.

The latest release includes the new Carbon, Purple Agate, and Mosaic Ember editions, each bringing a completely different personality to the Hammerhead platform while retaining the robust DNA that made the collection so popular among collectors.

A New Direction for the Hammerhead

For nearly a decade, the Hammerhead has been one of Zelos’ flagship dive watches, celebrated for its bold proportions, serious 300m water resistance, and adventurous use of materials. The new Hammerhead Field keeps that same “overbuilt” spirit but reimagines it in a cleaner, bezel-free field watch format.

At 43mm wide with a compact 48mm lug-to-lug distance, the watch still delivers commanding wrist presence, yet the slimmer fixed-bezel construction reduces overall thickness to around 12–13mm. Large Lumicast numerals, heavy Super-LumiNova application, and a highly legible dial layout ensure that functionality remains at the core of the design.

Under the hood, all three models feature the reliable Seiko NH38 automatic movement, sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a quick-adjust stainless steel bracelet, and an impressive 300m water resistance rating, specifications rarely seen in a field-style watch at this price point.

Hammerhead 43 Field “Carbon”

The standout technical piece of the release is undoubtedly the Carbon edition. Zelos describes it as the “first CNC guilloche forged carbon dial,” combining the lightweight, marbled appearance of forged carbon with intricate machining that adds surprising depth and texture.

The result is a dial that constantly shifts under changing light conditions, giving the watch a distinctly modern and almost futuristic aesthetic. Combined with the aggressive Hammerhead case design, the Carbon feels like the most tactical and contemporary watch of the trio.

Hammerhead 43 Field “Purple Agate”

For collectors who appreciate natural stone dials, the Purple Agate version offers something entirely different. Every dial is unique thanks to the natural variations in the agate stone, with swirling textures and deep purple tones ensuring that no two pieces are identical.

Stone dials have become one of Zelos’ signatures over the years, and the Purple Agate continues that tradition beautifully. It brings a more refined and luxurious feel to the rugged Hammerhead platform while still retaining the tool-watch toughness the series is known for.

Hammerhead 43 Field “Mosaic Ember”

The most artistic model of the release is the Mosaic Ember. Featuring a mosaic-style mother-of-pearl dial with a fiery orange fumé finish, the watch captures the warm glow of a sunset reflecting across water. Contrasting blue lume details add even more visual drama.

Among the three releases, the Mosaic Ember arguably showcases Zelos at its creative best, blending unusual materials, vibrant colors, and high-performance watchmaking into a design that feels genuinely distinctive.

Early Community Reactions

As with many bold Zelos releases, the new Hammerhead Field models have already sparked lively discussion within the enthusiast community. Many collectors have praised the creativity of the dials — particularly the Mosaic Ember and Purple Agate variants, while others debated the large 43mm sizing.

One thing remains consistent: Zelos continues to make watches that stand out in a crowded microbrand market. Whether collectors love or hate a specific release, the brand rarely plays it safe, and that willingness to experiment is exactly why the Hammerhead series has developed such a loyal following.

Available Soon at WatchBandit

As an authorized Zelos retailer, WatchBandit has already secured pieces from the new Hammerhead 43 Field release. While the watches are not yet in stock, customers can already register their interest via the waiting lists on the individual product pages

Given Zelos’ history of limited production runs and fast sell-outs, joining the waiting list is likely the best way to secure one before they disappear.

My Hammerhead Purple watch is disappointing. The dial is beautiful, but it has three flaws that Zelos considers “normal,” which are actually defects that a brand like Zelos should be aware of. Their solution is for me to pay $90 more for a decent dial?
