Manchester Watch Works Brings Vintage Trench Watches to the Modern World

The very first wristwatch wasn’t made to make a fashion statement. It was designed to serve a purpose. When soldiers during World War I strapped their pocket watches to their wrists, they had no idea that they were going to revolutionize the world of fashion accessories, but that’s exactly what ended up happening. Now, Manchester Watch Works, an American company, is bringing the look of those original trench watches into the modern fashion world.

Founded by watch collector Douglas Kim, Manchester Watch Works draws inspiration from authentic turn of the century pocketwatch timepieces that were converted into wristwatches. The watches capture the minimalist look of those early watches perfectly and have a distinctive retro look that is fashionable yet certain to remain stylish with time.

The Manchester Watch Works trench timepieces also incorporate a number of modern features, such as polished high grade steel cases, heavy-duty sapphire crystal faces and automatic watch movements. The watches are handcrafted to ensure quality. There are three designs included in the initial collection, and each one has a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

When this profile was composed, Manchester Watch Works had made $30,102 on Kickstarter toward a campaign goal of $29,000. With 4 days to go, the company seemed poised to succeed with their launch, and there were still plenty of rewards available for men who want to be the first to wear one of the brand’s modern updates of vintage trench watches.
