Description
Aalto Automatic Power Reserve
The Aalto Automatic Power Reserve impresses with its minimalistic but deep dial. Day-, date- and month indications are complimented by the colorful power reserve indication. DuFa characteristically, the dial is plain and simple and doesn’t let the watch seem overloaded.
DuFa – Deutsche Uhrenfabrik Thüringen
DuFa stands for “German Uhrenfabrik Thüringen”, which means “German watch factory Thüringen”. It was founded in March 1989 by Otto Hott, Eckart Haller and his sister Doris Stoll-Haller. During and after the quartz-crisis in the 70’s to mid 80’s it was not easy to found and establish a watch brand. Over the years DuFa never established as their founders would have wished for and they declared bankruptcy in the 1990’s. Since 2016 the company was bought and the spirit revived. Like the phoenix from the ashes, DuFa creates time pieces again like their founders had dreamed it.
German minimalistic design
Thüringen is a state in the heart of Germany where we can find the famous city Weimar, the birthplace of the Bauhaus. The school was founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919 and was a merger of the Weimar Saxon Grand Ducal Art School and the Weimar Academy of Fine Art. The minimalistic design of DuFa watches correspond to the philosophy of the Bauhaus: Less is more.
Bauhaus spirit today
DuFa watches unifies the best of the iconic Bauhaus school traditions, underpinned by uncompromising modern standards in manufacturing and componentry. Understatement, neo-classical aesthetic, each piece embodies the movement’s philosophy. DuFa horological instruments have always been synonymous with German precision engineering. From its historic origin at the famed Etzold & Popitz watch and clock factory to its current incarnation as a contemporary watch brand, the timepieces have been produced in the midst of Germany’s rich architectural and cultural landscape. With this heritage of sophisticated excellence and spirit, DuFa’s legacy lives on.
