Maritime design language
Spinnaker watches are inspired by vintage diving watches, with a Super LumiNova® illuminated sandwich-dial and a well readable typography. The dial surface reminds on the rough sea surface, deep eve-rose and blue colors give a maritime touch and the hands appear like sailing ships on the dial. The vintage style is supported by a vintage leather strap.
Bezel & Dial
Most notably the inner-turning bezel is a custom molded ring with five minute markers positioned at a straight horizontal, parallel to the dial for easy viewing. Beyond this, a liberal application of Swiss Super-LumiNova on the ring has been undertaken to give this elapsed time measurement greater visibility in lower light conditions. The main dial also holds an applied minute marker ring and a square-shaped index that matches the baton-shaped hands. All of which have also been layered with Swiss Super-LumiNova material.
Design
A curved edge and a slightly domed sapphire lens affixed to the 42mm diameter marine-grade stainless steel case of the SP-5062, which has been precisely carved and polished. The two crowns sit at the 2 o’clock and 4 o’clock positions, operating time adjustment and bezel setting respectively. The lugs are proportioned appropriately and sloped down to create a snug fit over the wrist as it sits attached to a stainless steel beads of rice bracelet.
Japanese Precision Movement
The watch is driven by a Japanese Seiko TMI NH35 movement, which is known for its reliability and precision. It’s a movement that many watch manufactures like to use for their watches; It’s precise, tough and easy to repair. A 41 hours power-reserve, bi-directional winding rotor and a diashock shock-system makes it one of the world’s most popular automatic movements. It is widely used in many microbrand watches.
