Roys Road Watch Co.: Putting New Zealand on the Timepiece Map

When you think of luxury watches, your mind likely stays confined to the Northern Hemisphere where Switzerland and Japan are located; however, a new watch brand is making fine quality watchmaking Down Under and seeking to disrupt the Eurasian watchmaking industry with their minimalist modern designs. The brand is Roys Road Watch Co., and their new line of watches is effortlessly stylish.

Designed in New Zealand, Roys Road Watch Co. timepieces are intended to appeal to both men and women. The watches have a very sleek aesthetic with clean-looking dials and slim stick hour markers with similarly proportioned minute markers. Japanese Miyota GL20 Movements are used in each watch, and the timepieces have 40-millimeter round cases. Initially, the brand will be offering three versions of their watch:

  1. The Plimmerton. The Plimmerton is a bold, modern watch with a black dial, a black matte-finished case and a black genuine leather strap.
  1. The Red Rock. The Red Rock features a white face with gold markers and a matching gold case. A dark brown strap finishes the look.
  1. The Mana. The Mana has a sophisticated design with a black strap, a gold-toned case, gold hour markers and an ivory dial.

Roys Road Watch Co. is raising funds for their watch brand through Kickstarter and began with a funding goal of $3559. As of the date when this piece was written, the campaign had four days remaining and had generated $4886 in revenues from 42 backers. Pledges of $106 USD and above could receive one of the new timepieces, which are expected to ship in August 2016.
