Vintage SLR cameras are true feats of engineering. Not only are they aesthetically appealing, but they are also precisely crafted to capture images in lifelike detail even without digital technology. Now, classic cameras have inspired a new concept in luxury watches–the Foto Nouveau Watch.
The Foto Nouveau Watch was patterned after the lens on a vintage camera, giving it a very unique, modern look. Understated hour markers encircle the face, and at the center of the timepiece is a simple box reminiscent of the viewing field on a camera. A date display window at the 12 o’clock position adds interest to the design, and there is a red dot on the watch bezel that echos the markings on a camera’s dial.
While the Foto Nouveau Watch is truly unique in terms of its aesthetic properties, the watch is also finely crafted just like a professional camera. A Swiss movement system drives the watch, and it features a heavy-duty scratch-resistant sapphire crystal face and durable stainless steel case.
The America designer behind the Foto Nouveau Watch is trying to bring his new design to the market through a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of raising $5,000. So far, the campaign has generated more than $3,335 in revenues, and at the time this blog post was written, there were still 9 days left in the campaign. With many rewards still available for claiming, it seems that the Foto Nouveau Watch has a great chance of becoming fully funded.
