What to Look for When Buying Anchor Bracelets

Anchor bracelets are having a big fashion moment right now. As it always happens with trends, many retailers are adding anchor bracelet designs to their inventories in order to cash in on the phenomenon. Unfortunately, a lot of what’s available in stores just isn’t of good quality and is unlikely to last for more than just a handful of wears.

To make sure you get an anchor bracelet that’s made to stand the test of time, be sure to find out the answers to these questions before you buy:

  1. Is this nylon cord?
Cotton is a great material for t-shirts and underwear because it’s soft and breathable, but for an anchor bracelet, softness isn’t what you want. Look for bracelets made of genuine nylon sailing rope, which will hold up much better to daily wear than cotton and other materials.
  2. Is the anchor painted or plated?
Lots of anchor bracelets have hardware that is painted to look like precious metal or make it black or red. Paint can easily wear away, fade or flake off with frequent wear, so choose styles that are electroplated or PVD coated instead.
  3. Are these mass produced?
Bracelets that are turned out along assembly lines are made to maximise the quantity produced, not the quality. Look for artisan crafted anchors instead.

If you want to take the guesswork out of shopping for anchor bracelets, you can save yourself the hassles and simply choose styles from our collection here at Watch Bandit. Our anchor styles are made from premium nylon sailing rope, have genuine precious metal or PVD-coated anchors and are artisan crafted, so you can be certain they’ll outlast the competition.
