World Will Have to Wait for the Taniwha 200m Mechanical Dive Watch

In early September, a watch collector from Christchurch, New Zealand, launched a Kickstarter to try and raise funds for a unique new dive watch. Sadly, the campaign has been canceled, but there is hope that maybe a relaunch will occur in the future.

The watch in question is called the Taniwha 200m Mechanical Dive Watch, and it is a very handsomely crafted diver watch. The concept behind the watch is to offer a handmade timepiece that can rival the quality and performance of diver watches that cost thousands but with designs that are much more affordable than luxury brands. Taniwha refers to the Maori water of the deep, and the brand’s logo was inspired by tribal art .

Some of the key features of the Taniwha 200m Mechanical Dive Watch include:

– 42-millimeter stainless steel case with a screw down crown

– Very unique crown with the brand logo etched onto the side

– 200 meter water resistance

– Miyota 9015 Automatic hand wired movements

After two weeks on Kickstarter, the campaign to fund the Taniwha 200m Mechanical Dive Watch was ended. The founder believed that he hadn’t done enough marketing to successfully promote the campaign and decided to put it on pause in order to focus on generating more interest in the watch. Those who are interested in contributing to a future campaign can like Taniwha Watches on Facebook to get updates on when the campaign will be relaunched and to help get the word out.
