Hands-On: Trematic – Archivio Uno – Ref. 502 Panna

Trematic Watches has a rich history dating back to the golden era of Swiss watchmaking, known for crafting exquisite timepieces in the 1950s and 60s. From moon phases to triple calendars, the brand built a reputation for its elegant complications and collaborations with prestigious names in the industry. Unfortunately, like many traditional watchmakers, Trematic was hit hard by the quartz crisis in the 1980s and eventually closed its doors.

Fast forward to 2022, now under the direction of Daniele Campagnano, Trematic is poised for a new chapter. With a deep passion for the brand, passed down from his maternal grandfather, Daniele’s mission is to restore Trematic to its former glory by reintroducing watches that reflect the craftsmanship and legacy of the brand.

Now, as part of the “Archivio Uno” project, Trematic is reintroducing some of its most iconic designs, including the beautiful Ref. 502 Panna. This watch brings a touch of vintage elegance to the modern wrist with its clean lines and classic features.

Let’s take a closer look at the Trematic Archivio Uno and see what makes it special.

Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Panna on the Wrist

The Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Panna feels incredibly comfortable on the wrist, especially for those with smaller or medium-sized wrists like mine at 18cm (7″). With a 38mm diameter (excluding the crown) and a slim 9mm thickness (not counting the domed crystal), it’s a watch that sits neatly, providing a refined fit. The 45.5mm lug-to-lug distance strikes the perfect balance, making the watch wear compact and balanced. At 20mm between the lugs, you also have plenty of strap options to personalize it—something like the WB Original straps would work nicely.

The plain bezel gives the watch a classic and understated look, while the crown, though small, is easy to grip. The inner minute ring offers excellent legibility and adds a subtle vintage sector-dial feel, making it practical and stylish at once. Under the dial ticks the reliable Swiss automatic movement Sellita SW 200-1 in elaboré grade. Whether dressed up for a formal occasion or worn casually, the Ref. 502 Panna carries versatility.

The Watch in Detail: Dual Tone Domed Dial in Pie-Pan Style

One of the standout features of the Trematic Archivio Uno Ref. 502 Panna is the beautifully executed dual-tone domed dial. Its pie-pan style, with an off-white silver finish, creates an intriguing depth that plays wonderfully with light. The applied hour markers, a mix of wedge-shaped and Arabic numerals, come in rose gold, adding a touch of warmth to the cool, understated dial color.

The domed sapphire crystal, with both internal and external anti-reflective coatings, ensures a clear view of the dial from all angles without glare. It complements the watch’s overall classic vibe while enhancing its readability.

Looking closer, you’ll notice the fine brushed edge on the lugs, which contrasts with the otherwise polished case. This subtle touch adds just the right amount of texture without overwhelming the eye, showing attention to detail that can be appreciated up close.
