Finally we are able to get the iconic Omega Speedmaster as an affordable model in cooperation with Swatch: The Omega MoonSwatch. Unless you get one, because here too the waiting times are long and availability is low. The Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch has been out for a few months and these timepieces are still so hard to find in Swatch stores. It was announced that the watches could be ordered online soon, but so far no possibility to order it online has been found. This results in long queues of watch fans forming in front of Swatch stores around the world.
The Swatch x Omega bioceramic MoonSwatch is a remarkable timepiece that combines Omega’s famous design signature of the Speedmaster “Moonwatch” with the colorful, playful style we all know and love from Swatch. In this article, we will explore the design, strap combinations, features, technical specifications and significance of this currently hyped and sought after watch.
For those of you lucky enough to buy one of these affordable and damn cool looking $260 USD MoonSwatches at retail we have put together the best strap combinations in our Omega MoonSwatch Strap Guide by WATCHBANDIT for you.
Design
The design of the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch is both modern and timeless. The bioceramic material gives the watch a unique texture and appearance, while the classic “tachymètre” bezel adds a touch of sportiness. The colorful options also add a playful and youthful vibe to the watch, making it a versatile accessory for any occasion.
The Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch has a 42mm case diameter, which is available in a range of colors, that are named after named after planetary missions to: Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. The watch also features a bioceramic bezel with a tachymeter scale, which is used to measure speed. Like original space mission Speedmasters, the glass is made of plexiglass (which can be easily polished and can‘t be broken so easily, at least it won’t splinter) and has all hands and hour indexes coated with Swiss Super-LumiNova for increased visibility in low light conditions. The watch also features Omega’s signature “Speedmaster” logo on the dial, along with the respective planet and Swatch logo on the caseback.
Strap-Guide by WATCHBANDIT
The watch comes with a VELCRO© strap (using velcro fastener), which adds to its sporty and casual look, but since the watch itself is very light, the original strap is a bit too light and stiff for it. We think that you upgrade the MoonSwatch significantly with a Premium strap or a specially designed Curved-End Rubber strap, perfectly matching the case, which gives the watch a little more weight and a more balanced wearing experience.
That’s why we’ve put together the coolest strap combinations for the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch for you in this strap guide:
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Sun
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Mercury
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Earth
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Moon
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Mars
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Jupiter
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Pluto
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch Mission to Saturn

Special Edition MoonSwatches
Away from the planetary order of our solar system, Swatch and Omega have released a few special editions. Here we present some of them and show you how best to combine them with our watch straps:
MoonSwatch Mission To Moonshine Gold
If you want a MoonSwatch with a touch of luxury, then you need a MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold. This model has a chrono seconds hand made from a fine coating of 18k yellow gold alloy recycled from Swatch Group’s own certified refinery. What’s more, it was even assembled during a full moon (no kidding!). The best way to upgrade a MoonSwatch is to equip it with a high quality strap. What watch strap could be a better match here than our premium black nylon strap with yellow- or rose gold.
However, this model could only be purchased on Mar 7, 2023, in Zurich, London, Milan, and Tokyo Zurich. Will the MoonSwatch Moonshine Gold ever be available for purchase again? This model is not officially a limited edition, but Swatch has already announced that it will repeat such a sale event in the future – possibly under another full moon (true information from Swatch).
Features
The first special feature that strikes us is the case material: Bioceramic. This material is a revolutionary innovation by Swatch that combines ceramic and bio-sourced plastic to create a highly durable and eco-friendly material. This new hybrid material is as durable and at the same time it is smooth and comfortable to wear on the wrist.
It is is water-resistant up to 3 bars / 30 meters (splash proof) and its battery will keep it going for approx. 2- 3 years, depending on the size of the battery and how often you will use the chronograph function. In principle, Swatch states that watches with a chronograph function have a shorter battery life.
What movement does the MoonSwatch use?
The MoonSwatch is a product of Swatch, with collaboration with Omega. Nevertheless, solely Swatch produces this watch. Since Swatch is one of the many watch brands in the Swatch Group, which also includes the movement manufacturer ETA, the movement in the MoonSwatch is an ETA quartz chronograph movement. You can find more detailed informations about the movement here.
Which strap size does my MoonSwatch need?
Just like the Omega Speedmaster, the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch lug width is 20 mm, which is the most common lug width. More about how to find out which band size your watch needs here.
How do I change the bracelet or strap on my MoonSwatch?
To change the bracelet of your Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch watch, you’ll need a spring bar tool with a special 1 mm fork, that fits in the openings of the bracelet, for example, the Bergeon 6767 spring bar tool. If you want to know, how you install a Nylon Pull-Through band on your Omega watch read our article All you need to know about Nylon (pull-through) Straps.
Conclusion
The Swatch x Omega bioceramic MoonSwatch is a remarkable watch that combines the best of both worlds. It is a highly durable and accurate timepiece that also boasts a unique and stylish design and is much more affordable than the Omega Speedmaster “Moonwatch”. Its limited availability due to its high demand and importance in the history of both brands makes it a coveted item among watch collectors and enthusiasts. Whether you are a fan of space exploration, eco-friendly technology, or just a great-looking watch, the Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch is definitely worth checking out.
