PIONEER TachyTele – A Chronograph Icon, Reborn

The PIONEER TachyTele combines classic chronograph functionality with two practical measurement scales, elegantly integrated into its vintage-inspired old white dial. Thanks to the use of striking red print, both the tachymeter and telemeter scales are highly legible. The tachymeter is arranged in a spiral at the center of the dial, allowing up to three full revolutions of the chronograph second hand. This unique design significantly extends the measuring range, enabling the precise calculation of even lower average speeds—between 60 km/h and 20 km/h.

The outer telemeter scale is used to measure distances based on the speed of sound—ideal for calculating how far away an event (like lightning) has occurred.

At the heart of the watch ticks the spirit of a true classic: The design of the hands and numerals is inspired by the Hanhart calibre 42 from the 1950s—a hand-wound flyback movement developed as an evolution of the historic calibres 40 and 41. This calibre powered the iconic Hanhart 417 and 417 ES chronographs, originally designed for the German Air Force and affectionately known by enthusiasts as the “Bundeswehr Chronograph.” Only about 1,000 units were produced at the time, making these vintage timepieces exceptionally rare today. The DNA of these watches continues to influence military and pilot chronograph designs across the industry.
The PIONEER TachyTele features a 40 mm stainless steel case and measures 15 mm in height. It comes on Hanhart’s signature leather strap with stainless steel rivets, which reinforces the vintage aesthetic while ensuring lasting comfort on the wrist. The watch is a robust and stylish companion for both professional and casual settings.

To round off its practical elegance, the hands and numerals are coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring excellent readability in low-light conditions. With its fusion of historical charm and modern functionality, the PIONEER TachyTele is a standout piece within the PIONEER collection.
