During our visit of the (mainly microbrand) watch exhibition Aurochronos 2019 in Lodz, Poland, we had the pleasure of meeting Mia and Wilfried of Fine Watches Berlin.
Fine Watches Berlin is a young family owned microbrand from the capital of Germany by Mia Phyllis Liefer and Wilfried Liefer, daughter and father, born 1987 and 1957: Created out of love for Berlin and out of love for the moment, every watch we make is an homage to Berlin. The names of the watch series evoke the city’s special places, locations, personalities and events.
“These are all good reasons to fulfill a dream of mine, together with my daughter. Almost 30 years ago, I was seized by the idea of creating my own line of watches and having them manufactured. Sometimes things need time. After a few self-imposed private and professional realignments over the years, by 2017 the time had come. Everything was in place for me to fulfill this old dream together with my daughter.” – Wilfried Liefer
TEUFELSBERG White #2
The model TEUFELSBERG is the beginning, named after an about 120 meters high, man-made hill on which U.S. listening station was stationed during the Cold War. Future product lines will extend these ideas.
The TEUFELSBERG White #2 is a very refreshing asymmetrical dial design, with a certain German touch. This model has an enamel-white dial and polished blue numerals and markers, which gives the watch a maritime and light impression. The signal red second hand stands out above the deeper, white sub-second dial and the green luminous material inlays and markers of give the watch a great play of colors.
Nevertheless, it maintains a balanced and simple design. With its size of 40.5 mm diameter it has a comfortable position on the wrist and offers great readability. The watch comes with a brown handcrafted leather strap. A black leather strap is also included. With a great versatility and lug width of 20 mm it fits most of our WB Original straps.
The modified Japanese Miyota cal. 8218 automatic movement with 21 jewels, 21600 oscillations and a power reserve of 42 hours also has an engraved rotor and blue movement screws. It’s a pleasure to look at through the sapphire crystal case back.
